S-Cinacalcet is a medication that is primarily used in the treatment of hyperparathyroidism, a condition in which the parathyroid gland produces too much parathyroid hormone. This medication works by binding to and activating the calcium-sensing receptor on the parathyroid gland, which results in decreased production of parathyroid hormone. This, in turn, helps to reduce the levels of calcium in the blood.
