The recommended dose of didehydro pioglitazone is 15-45 mg per day, taken orally. It is metabolized in the liver and excreted in the urine. It has a half-life of approximately 6-7 hours.
While didehydro pioglitazone is generally well-tolerated, it may cause some side effects, including weight gain, edema, headache, and upper respiratory tract infection. It may also increase the risk of bladder cancer, so it should not be used in patients with a history of bladder cancer or in those with uncontrolled heart failure.
