Disposal Methods : | SRP: The most favorable course of action is to use an alternative chemical product with less inherent propensity for occupational harm/injury/toxicity or environmental contamination. Recycle any unused portion of the material for its approved use or return it to the manufacturer or supplier. Ultimate disposal of the chemical must consider: the material's impact on air quality; potential migration in soil or water; effects on animal and plant life; and conformance with environmental and public health regulations. |
Antidoteand Emergency Treatment : | Immediate first aid: Ensure that adequate decontamination has been carried out. If patient is not breathing, start artificial respiration, preferably with a demand valve resuscitator, bag-valve-mask device, or pocket mask, as trained. Perform CPR if necessary. Immediately flush contaminated eyes with gently flowing water. Do not induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs, lean patient forward or place on the left side (head-down position, if possible) to maintain an open airway and prevent aspiration. Keep patient quiet and maintain normal body temperature. Obtain medical attention. /Organic bases/Amines and related compounds/ |
Human Toxicity Excerpts : | /GENOTOXICITY/ The role of human cytochrome P450 (CYP) in the metabolic activation of N-alkylnitrosamines was examined by Ames test using genetically engineered Salmonella typhimurium (S. typhimurium)YG7108 cells expressing each form of human CYP together with human NADPH-cytochrome P450 reductase (OR). The relationship between the structure of N-alkylnitrosamines and CYP form(s) involved in the activation was evaluated. Eleven strains of S. typhimurium YG7108 cells expressing each form of CYP (CYP1A1, CYP1A2, CYP1B1, CYP2A6, CYP2C8, CYP2C9, CYP2C19, CYP2D6, CYP2E1, CYP3A4 or CYP3A5) were employed. Eight N-alkylnitrosamines including ... N-nitrosomethylethylamine (NMEA) ... were examined. ... N-alkylnitrosamines with relatively short alkyl chains such as ... NMEA were primarily activated by CYP2E1 as judged by mutagen-producing capacity. ... |
Non Human Toxicity Excerpts : | /LABORATORY ANIMALS: Chronic Exposure or Carcinogenicity/ A group of 15 female BD rats was given N-nitrosomethylethylamine (NMEA) in the drinking-water at doses of 1 or 2 mg/kg bw per day. Nine of 15 animals developed hepatocellular carcinomas, and one animal a fibrosarcoma of the vagina. The average induction time was 500 or 360 days, respectively; the average total dose to induce tumors in 50% of animals was 0.42 or 0.75 g/kg bw, respectively. |
