(S)-1-acetyl-4-isobutylpyrrolidin-2-one, also known as S-AIBP, is a chemical compound that is commonly used in the pharmaceutical industry. It is a chiral molecule, meaning it has a mirror image that is not superimposable on itself. The (S) form of the molecule is the active form and is therefore the one that is used in medicinal applications.
S-AIBP works as a potent inhibitor of the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV), which is involved in the breakdown of incretin hormones.
